Iowa, Missouri Sue NY Over State Emissions Reporting Program

Missouri and Iowa sued New York officials Thursday to block the state’s greenhouse gas reporting program alleging New York’s policy goes outside of state bounds which will hurt fuel suppliers hundreds of miles away.

The two states, along with the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, sued New York Attorney General Letitia James and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Amanda Lefton. The lawsuit alleges that New York’s mandatory emissions reporting program imposes “nearly impossible” reporting requirements, violates constitutional due process protections and seeks to preempt the Clean Air Act.
