Two Iowa counties filed a petition Friday asking the US Supreme Court to hear a case related to a proposed carbon dioxide pipeline project across the Midwest that has drawn ire from some landowners and local leaders.
Summit Carbon Solutions LLC, the company proposing the pipeline, sued Shelby and Story counties in late 2022 over local ordinances both counties passed spelling out their own requirements for pipeline projects in their jurisdictions, such as how far they have to be from localities and public parks.
