Deputy Interior Secretary Tommy Beaudreau plans to step down at the end of October, the Interior Department announced Wednesday.
The Interior Department didn’t give a reason for Beaudreau’s coming departure. The agency didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Beaudreau oversaw the department’s water management and renewable and fossil fuels energy programs, and he signed off on the controversial Willow oil project on Alaska’s North Slope. In September, he announced the department’s plans to make it easier for companies to mine federal lands for minerals needed for electric vehicles and renewable energy generation.
