Interior Reviews Colorado River Operation Amid Historic Drought

The Bureau of Reclamation will prepare a new environmental review of Colorado River operations for 2023 and 2024, including the use of the Glen Canyon and Hoover dams, to cope with low water in the face of the West’s extreme drought, the agency said Friday.

The bureau announced that it will begin working on a supplemental environmental impact statement for modifications to a 2007 plan that governs how dams on the Colorado River operate and governs the levels of lakes Powell and Mead.
