Former Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt’s decision to grant a grazing permit to ranchers pardoned for arson is rescinded to allow for more public participation, the Department of the Interior said following a lawsuit filed in an Oregon federal court.
The Bureau of Land Management’s regulations say a final grazing decision must come after a proposed decision that an interested party can protest within 15 days. Here, confusion over the protest period prevented some parties from having the full 15 days, the department says.
