Interior Looks to Lift Roadblock for California Solar Project

The Interior Department is considering tweaking a federal renewables plan in California to allow Intersect Power LLC to build a solar project in an area already targeted for solar development.

The Bureau of Land Management on Wednesday announced that it’s conducting an environmental review of the proposed 500-megawatt Oberon Solar Project, which could power about 200,000 homes.

A subsidiary of Intersect Power is developing the project, targeting 4,700 acres of federal land in eastern Riverside County, Calif.
