Interior Cites Safety in Delaying June Sales of Oil, Gas Leases

The Interior Department has indefinitely postponed at least two June online oil and gas lease sales for health and safety reasons related to Covid-19, while continuing with two other sales that promise more revenue.

Interior’s Bureau of Land Management has delayed a June 9 Nevada lease sale and June 18 Mississippi lease sale.

In addition, a lease sale originally scheduled for the week of June 8 in Utah for land near the Arches and Canyonlands national parks has now been removed from the bureau’s auction calendar. The BLM was also to have opened a public comment period May 21 ...
