Bomb Mailed to US Court from Prison, Prosecutors Allege (1)

A Georgia man serving a life sentence at a state prison was indicted for constructing and mailing bombs to a federal courthouse in Alaska.

David Cassady, 55, faces multiple federal charges for sending bombs to the Anchorage courthouse in 2020 as well as a federal facility in Washington, according to the indictment filed Wednesday in the Southern District of Georgia.

The indictment says Cassady deposited a package addressed to the courthouse containing “explosives, namely, a bomb” at the since-closed Georgia State Prison in Reidsville. But the indictment doesn’t detail how he managed to obtain the materials or construct such a ...
