A European Union decision to list the widely used chemical bisphenol A as a substance of very high concern under the bloc’s REACH regulation should have “no direct implications” for most applications that use the substance, an industry group told Bloomberg BNA Dec. 20.
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) said Dec. 19 that its Member State Committee, which consists of representatives from EU countries, had agreed that bisphenol A (BPA) should be listed as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) because of its toxic properties on reproduction.
