Industries Must Clean Up PFAS Waste Under Proposed EPA Rules

Companies, federal agencies, and state and local governments could be ordered under federal law to investigate and clean up hazardous waste including certain PFAS, the EPA said in two proposed waste rules issued Thursday.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s first rule (RIN: 2050-AH26) would designate nine specific per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as hazardous constituents under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
