Indiana, West Virginia Urge for Coal Mine Rule Suit to Proceed

Fourteen coal-producing states led by Indiana urged a federal judge to deny the Trump administration’s April motion to pause litigation over a Biden-era coal mine safety rule.

The Justice Department in April requested an indefinite stay in the states’ litigation in the US District Court for the District of Columbia over a Biden administration rule expanding citizens’ power to force the government to address problems at mines.
The DOJ said President Donald Trump’s Interior Department plans to write a new rule that aims to resolve the states’ concerns.
