Illinois Ethanol Producer to Settle Clean Air Act Violations

Alto Ingredients will pay a penalty of $308,374 and another of $193,516 to resolve allegations it violated the Clean Air Act at two of its facilities in Pekin, Ill., according to the EPA Monday.

Alto Pekin LLC and Alto ICP LLC facilities allegedly violated the national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants for miscellaneous organic chemical manufacturing, said the agency. EPA alleges the ethanol producer also violated other conditions of permits issued by Illinois EPA.
