Idaho Seeks to Intervene in Challenge to Wolverine Protections

A challenge to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision not to pursue Endangered Species Act protections for wolverines could affect Idaho’s sovereign interest in managing wildlife in the state, Idaho tells a Montana federal court.

The state seeks to defend the agency’s final decision to withdraw a proposed rule to list a distinct population segment of North American wolverine as threatened, according to the motion to intervene filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana.
