House Panel Aims to Move Chemical Law Changes Bill by Spring

A House committee plans to move legislation amending the primary US commercial chemicals law by spring to give the EPA a clearer sense of Congress’ intent in what are now ambiguous parts of the statute, a top committee aide said Monday.

The legislation also aims to lay out a clearer process the Environmental Protection Agency should use as it reviews news chemicals, said Byron Brown, chief Republican counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Environment Subcommittee during the American Chemistry Council’s annual Global Chemicals Regulations Conference.
