New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed a bill Friday that bans the dumping of radioactive waste into the Hudson River.
The bill is aimed squarely at the Indian Point nuclear plant, about 35 miles up the Hudson River from New York City, which fully shut down in April 2021. Earlier plans would have seen more than one million gallons of toxic wastewater released into the river later this year.
