HILL ENERGY BRIEFING: US Seeks Robust Cuts to Shipping Emissions

Several countries including the US this week are pushing for robust emissions targets for 2030 and 2040 from the global shipping industry.

The International Maritime Organization conference in London wraps up its second week on July 7 with the goal of announcing a 2023 greenhouse gas plan.

While a major new target is expected, it’s yet to be decided exactly how it will be phrased. A draft document seen by Bloomberg on Friday had the industry agreeing to try and reach net zero “around” 2050, Jack Wittels reports.
