High Court Rejects Review of Iowa Carbon Dioxide Pipeline Case

The US Supreme Court declined Monday to weigh in on whether two Iowa counties should be allowed to impose restrictions on where carbon dioxide pipelines can be built.

Summit Carbon Solutions, the company trying to build a massive pipeline to transport captured carbon dioxide from a host of ethanol plants, sued Iowa’s Shelby and Story counties in 2022, alleging their restrictions around where these types of pipelines can be built are preempted by federal and state laws.
