A Biden administration initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the health-care sector will accept new participants on an ongoing basis, the HHS said Thursday.
Signing the pledge commits organizations such as hospitals, health suppliers, and drug companies to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
The department said the pledge, which launched last spring, was reopened after multiple health sector stakeholders requested to join the initiative after the deadline closed in October.
