Harley-Davidson Beats Some Claims in Utah Clean Air Act Lawsuit

Harley-Davidson won its bid for a quick win on some claims brought by a Utah-based public health group alleging the brand’s motorcycles created excessive noise and emissions.

The group didn’t show that its members’ alleged injuries could be traced to any Noise Control Act violations, Judge David Barlow of the US District Court for the District of Utah said.

The Clean Air Act requires that new motor vehicles be tested to ensure compliance with emission standards. Under the NCA, the EPA also publishes regulations limiting noise emissions from certain products, including motorcycles.
