Guarantors of Taylor Energy Sued for Oil Spill Cleanup Costs

The United States sued several insurance underwriters, including Aspen Insurance UK Ltd and syndicates at Lloyd’s of London, seeking reimbursement of the $128 million removed from the Oil Spill Liability Fund to respond to the Taylor Energy Co. oil spill.

None of the guarantors of the energy company’s financial responsibility have paid the US Coast Guard for removing oil from the water and shorelines of the Gulf of Mexico, the government said in a suit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
