Oregon Old-Growth Court Win Aids Challenges to Trump Timber Push

Environmental groups fresh off a court victory against a large logging project threatening old-growth trees in Oregon say the win helps them challenge other timber sales.

As the Trump administration pushes to drastically increase cutting, the litigation also shows the Bureau of Land Management’s willingness to include ancient trees harboring endangered species, environmental attorneys say.

Cascadia Wildlands’ May 14 win against the BLM’s 3,000-acre Blue and Gold logging project in western Oregon directly challenges timber sales the group is litigating in other cases, said Nick Cady, the group’s legal director.
