Groups Challenge ConocoPhillips Alaska Oil Surveys in Arctic (1)

Three tribal and environmental groups on Thursday asked a federal court to vacate approval for a ConocoPhillips Alaska oil exploration program in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

The lawsuit, filed in US District Court for the District of Alaska, says the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management November environmental assessment and approval of ConocoPhillips’ winter 2025-2026 seismic oil and gas exploration and drilling program violates the Naval Petroleum Reserves Production Act and the Administrative Procedure Act.
