Grizzly Bear Review Ordered for Flathead Forest Plan (1)

The U.S. Forest Service and Fish and Wildlife Service must review how the revised Flathead National Forest plan will impact grizzly bears and bull trout, a Montana federal court ruled, but the agencies overall took the required “hard look” at the plan’s environmental impacts.

The Forest Service followed National Environmental Policy Act during both the draft and final environmental review of the revised plan, according to the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana.

The agency explained why it was moving away from past road standards within bear management units in the forest, the court said.
