Environmental groups say the EPA must act quickly and approve California’s request to implement its Advanced Clean Cars II program, which a flood of other states recently adopted in a bid to slash emissions from gas-powered cars.
The Environmental Protection Agency will decide in the coming weeks whether to grant California’s request to carry out ACCII, which requires manufacturers to sell only zero-emission vehicles by 2035. The agency held a public hearing on Wednesday, and the public comment period ends Feb. 27.
