Green Groups Lose Bid to Halt Deadline Extension for Steel Rule

The steel industry can still operate under extended compliance dates for national emissions standards during litigation over Trump administration extensions, according to a DC Circuit order.

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said Oct. 10 that Clean Air Council and other petitioners didn’t meet the requirements for a stay of the interim final rule, which extends integrated iron and steel manufacturing industry deadlines to comply with hazardous air pollutant limits.

Manufacturers US Steel Corp. and Cleveland-Cliffs, as well as trade association American Iron and Steel Institute intervened in the case and supported the extension. ...
