Green Groups Launch Lawsuit Over Trump EPA’s Methane Rule Delay

The Environmental Defense Fund, Sierra Club, and other conservation organizations are taking the EPA to court over its decision to extend implementation deadlines for methane standards for the oil and gas industry.

The interim final rule on emissions, published Thursday in the Federal Register, pushes out deadlines to install control systems required by the standard up to 18 months. It also delays the start of the SuperEmitter Program, which allows certain third parties to identify and report leaks.
