Government Ministers Launch Wide-Ranging Series of Clean Energy Technology Initiatives

Representatives of 24 governments July 20 launched a series of initiatives aimed at advancing clean energy technology and expanding access to it.

The 11 initiatives, led by various countries, include partnerships with private companies and international finance organizations. They included establishing centers to provide clean energy information to developing countries, mapping current and potential wind and solar energy sites, forming action groups for furthering carbon capture and storage and for studying and deploying bioenergy, and providing impoverished communities with light-emitting diode lamps.
