Golden Parakeet Downlisting Leads to Bird Group Dropping Lawsuit

An exotic bird group has dropped its lawsuit against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, after the agency downlisted Golden conure, also known as Golden parakeet, from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act, according to a notice filed in a Washington, D.C., federal court.

The American Federation of Aviculture said in its lawsuit filed March 20 that the agency was failing to timely act on the group’s petition to delist or downlist the species.
