A controversial natural gas pipeline directly from Russia is set to boost trading in Germany, potentially helping Europe’s biggest gas user to narrow the gap with regional rivals.
The Nord Stream 2 link under the Baltic Sea would increase the amount of fuel Russia is able to send to Europe and allow it to cut shipments via transit nations including Ukraine. Some of the gas will be sold directly on hubs, leading traders to include German markets as part of their price management strategies.
