Friends of the Earth Sues Energy Agency Over Diablo Canyon Funds

Environmental nonprofit Friends of the Earth is challenging the Energy Department’s decision to award more than $1 billion in federal funding to the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in California.

The agency’s “approval of this award involves a fundamentally flawed and arbitrary process under the National Environmental Policy Act,” the group told the US District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday.
