Companies—along with federal, state, and local government facilities—must report air, water, and land releases of four additional types of “forever chemicals” to the EPA’s Toxics Release Inventory, the agency said Monday.
Information on the ways the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are managed, recycled, or released helps the Environmental Protection Agency decide whether and how to regulate the chemicals and safeguard communities, Michal Freedhoff, assistant administrator for chemical safety and pollution prevention, said in an emailed announcement.
