Formosa Settles Plastic Pellet Water Suit for $50 Million

Formosa Plastics Corp. agreed Oct. 15 to pay $50 million to settle claims it unlawfully dumped plastic pellets and other PVC products into a river near its Point Comfort, Tex., facility, according to an agreement filed in the Southern District of Texas.

Cox Creek flows into Lavaca Bay and Matagorda Bay at the margins of the Gulf of Mexico. The bays are popular spots for commercial and sport fishing and serve as habitat for wetland and marine life including endangered turtles.
