LONDON—The British government has appointed Edward Davey, a former minister in the Business Department, to be secretary of state for energy and climate change.
The move follows the resignation of Chris Huhne, who is facing prosecution over claims his ex-wife took his speeding points on her driving licence in 2003.
Davey was formerly the employment relations, consumer and postal affairs minister at the Department for Business, Skills, and Innovation. Like his predecessor, Davey is from the Liberal Democrat Party, the junior partner in the Conservative-led coalition government formed in May 2010.
