Former Michigan Officials Must Testify in Flint Water Case

Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and state Treasurer Andy Dillon aren’t exempt from testifying in a putative class action over the Flint water crisis during their qualified immunity appeal, because qualified immunity doesn’t eliminate discovery completely, the Sixth Circuit ruled Tuesday.

Snyder, Dillon, and other officials are accused of either creating, ignoring, or covering up the crisis that occurred after the city switched to the Flint River as its sole source of water, leading to a Legionnaire’s outbreak and exposing residents to lead, according to the lawsuit.
