Scott Angelle, a former natural resources regulator in Louisiana, has been appointed to lead the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, which polices offshore drilling, starting May 23.
Angelle said in a statement that he anticipates working with BSEE “to meet the critical goal of energy dominance for our country” and working “to empower the offshore oil and gas industry while ensuring safe and environmentally responsible operations.” The bureau, part of the Interior Department, is responsible for vetting applications to drill offshore and enforcing safety and environmental regulations governing the activity.
