Forest Service Logging Plans in New Hampshire Hit With NEPA Suit

An environmental group alleges that the US Forest Service failed to take a hard look at alternatives before approving nearly 3,000 acres of commercial logging in a forest located in New Hampshire and Western Maine.

Standing Trees Inc. says that to approve two projects in the White Mountain National Forest, the agency made arbitrary conclusions based on the evidence, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of New Hampshire. The environmental group says that the decisions violate the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Forest Management Act.
