The US Forest Service defeated a lawsuit by environmental groups that sought to block its decision to approve exploratory drilling to mine gold in the mountains bordering Idaho and Montana.
The Idaho Conservation League and Greater Yellowstone Coalition sued the US Forest Service in the US District Court for the District of Idaho, accusing the agency of not adopting reasonable measures to limit what harm the planned mine could cause to the local ecosystem.
