The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers must rescind a Clean Water Act permit issued for a Florida roadway expansion project because it failed to fully study the project’s environmental impacts, the Sierra Club told a federal court in the state.
The Road Ridge Extension will result in “permanent impacts to high quality preserved wetlands,” according to the group’s filing in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The project will span 8.65 miles and requires fill material to be dumped over 42.4 acres of wetlands, the group says.
