Flint, Mich., will be held in contempt of court until it meets its agreed-upon milestones to replace lead pipes, according to a federal judge who declined to impose a $500 per day penalty on the city due to its financial limitations.
“Based on the evidence, it is apparent that the city has failed to abide by the court’s orders in several respects, and that it has no good reason for its failures,” Judge David M. Lawson of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said.
