An EPA analysis of formaldehyde’s health effects suffers from a flawed scientific processes that could undermine air and other regulations it would underpin, according to the American Chemistry Council.
Information found in documents the council obtained via Freedom of Information Act requests and elsewhere “reveals a troubling pattern of process irregularities, lack of independence, bias, and conflicts of interest that demonstrates a need for greater scrutiny and transparency,” said the council in information released Tuesday.
The trade association’s claims precede the Environmental Protection Agency’s anticipated release of a draft formaldehyde health assessment originally launched in 1997. If that analysis concludes, ...
