The nation’s largest union of firefighters retained three law firms as it intensifies efforts to rid cancer-causing “forever chemicals” from personal protective equipment.
The International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents more than 333,000 members, said their partnership with the law firms aims to change regulatory standards, demand non-toxic gear, and assist members seeking compensation for illness related to exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS.
A website unveiled as part of the initiative—www.pfaslawfirms.com—said the trio of law firms will “represent individual fire fighters in their potential lawsuits” and offer free consultations.
