Fermi Secures Initial Approval for Gas Plant to Power AI (1)

Fermi Inc. has received preliminary approval to construct the first phase of a low-emissions natural gas plant for its large artificial intelligence campus.

The Amarillo, Texas–based energy real estate investment trust, co-founded by former US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, secured initial approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for 6 gigawatts of low-emissions natural gas–based power generation, the company said in a statement Tuesday. The approval is still subject to a formal meeting and a continuing public comment process.
