FERC Vows Closer Look at Natural Gas Equity, Safety Concerns (1)

Federal energy regulators pledged Thursday to take a harder look at environmental justice and public safety concerns from future natural gas pipeline projects, even as they rejected calls to halt operations at an existing New England pipeline.

Natural gas will continue to flow through a Massachusetts gas compressor station after two emergency shutdowns in 2020 prompted the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reconsider its authorization of the project, the agency ruled.
