FERC Improperly Restricted Texas Gas Pipeline Review, Groups Say

The Sierra Club and Public Citizen are challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s approvals of the Saguaro Connector pipeline cutting across Texas to the Mexican border, which they say were based on an impermissibly limited review.

FERC should have examined the project holistically, the groups said in their brief filed Monday in the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The project involves a proposed 157-mile-long pipeline from the Waha Hub—located near Permian Basin production activities—to a proposed liquefied natural gas export terminal on the west coast of Mexico. It would also include two new compressor stations.
