James Danly will step down from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission at the end of the year, the Republican commissioner announced at Tuesday’s open meeting, dropping the panel down to three members heading into 2024.
Danly, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump and confirmed to FERC in 2020, is known as a sharp-tongued dissenter on the Democratic-led commission. His term expired in June, but he was allowed to serve out the rest of the calendar year.
