FERC Boss Says More Gas Projects Needed to Help Grid Reliability

US energy regulators should approve more natural gas pipeline projects to meet the country’s needs and supply the power grid with fuel, the head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said Thursday.

“I am committed to getting projects that are needed for reliability,” FERC Chairman Willie Phillips told Bloomberg in an exclusive interview in Washington. The comments followed an agency meeting in which six proposed gas projects were struck from the agenda, a move Phillips blamed on at least one other commissioner’s objections.
