Federal agencies are allowing liquefied natural gas to be transported via rail—a move that the railroad industry and the Trump administration have requested but that some environmentalists and Democrats have questioned.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Federal Railroad Administration announced the final regulation (RIN:2137-AF40) on Friday. It will go into effect after it is published in the Federal Register.
