FDA to Test for Glyphosate on Food

The Food and Drug Administration will begin testing food for residues of the weed killer glyphosate, a chemical developed by Monsanto in the 1970s which has since become one of the most widely used pesticides in the world.

The FDA is expanding its pesticide residue monitoring program to include testing for this chemical in a variety of foods, including soybeans, corn, milk and eggs, according to FDA spokeswoman Lauren Sucher.
