The Conservation Law Foundation and ExxonMobil Corp. have settled a pollution lawsuit after the company announced it would cease operations at its oil facility in Everett, Mass.

“We take our environmental responsibilities seriously,” Exxon said Wednesday in an emailed statement. “We have not operated at the site since October 2022 and have been cleaning up the property.”

The foundation claimed that the company and its subsidiaries violated the Clean Water Act by exceeding pollutant limits from its terminal, according to the 2017 amended complaint to the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
