ExxonMobil Plastics Case Belongs in State Court, California Says

California’s ExxonMobil plastics deception lawsuit should return to state court because the energy giant failed to prove federal ties, including federal officer activities or maritime jurisdiction, the state told a federal court.

The state’s lawsuit also only seeks relief for alleged violations of state laws and doesn’t make any claims under federal law, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s (D) motion to remand filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
